Bikes for Tykes

Bikes for Tykes

Facts:

We think every kid should have the experience of riding a bike, so we initiated a Bikes for Tykes program here in North Vancouver back in 2006. Since then, we have been able to deliver 250 bikes every year to kids in this region.

Donations of previously loved kids bikes are accepted from November until December 10th at our shop at the foot of Lonsdale.

How does Bykes for Tykes work?

Every fall we ask for donations of used bikes that we can fix up to make them safe and amazing. Through the work of the Christmas Bureau we deliver these bikes (along with a brand new helmet) to kids in our area in time for Christmas with the majority of recipients being identified through Family Services of the North Shore.

Come January we get back to our regular work — knowing that a bunch of kids got bikes for Xmas!

We also work with smaller organizations providing them with bikes to distribute. These include the North Shore Salvation Army, Hollyburn Family Services and the Polar Bike Project.

Please get in touch if you have bikes to donate or mechanical skills and want to donate your time to help fix up some bikes.
