It started simply enough. Sharon Bader (then NSMBA president), Cam McRae (NSMB.com) and James Wilson (the Obsessed) were kicking back over tasty brown beverages, talking about the downfall of organized racing, when we all came to the same conclusion—what's wrong with racing is races, they only reward the racer never the rider. So we decided, “Let’s organize events that reward participants not racers.” And with that we started what has become a local institution. The North Shore Rippers have pulled together the mountainbike community, raised much-needed cash for the NSMBA, and elevated the awareness of local mountainbiking and trail access to local government.
